What the check shows

The stage, the date and the notice

Each result is read from The Gazette, the UK's official public record, and matched to the company's Companies House number. You see where the company is in an insolvency and can open the official notice in one click.

  1. 1

    The stage

Winding-up petition, winding-up order, administration, liquidation or one of the other stages, reduced from the notice type.

  2. 2

    The date

When the latest notice was published, so you can tell a fresh petition from an old one.

  3. 3

    The official notice

A link to every Gazette notice for the company. The notice is the authority; the stage is our reading of it.

Questions

Checking a company

How do I check if a UK company is in liquidation?

Search the company above by name or Companies House number. If The Gazette has published a corporate insolvency notice for it, you see the stage, the date and a link to every official notice. The official sources are The Gazette and Companies House; this check reads both for you.

How do I check if a company is in administration?

The same search. An administration appears as its own stage, with the date the appointment of administrators was published in The Gazette. Administration is not liquidation: the company keeps trading under the administrators while they look for a rescue or a sale.

Does "no notice" mean the company is safe?

No. It means The Gazette has published no corporate insolvency notice for it since 15 July 2025, when our records begin. A company can be in trouble long before a notice appears, so treat this as one check, not a credit assessment.

Is a liquidation always an insolvency?

No. In a members' voluntary liquidation the directors declare the company can pay its debts in full. The Gazette prints it under the same headings as an insolvent liquidation; this check labels it as a solvent liquidation so it is not mistaken for one.
